Update.

First of all, I’m fine. Let’s start there.

But to backtrack, all of a sudden after dinner last night, my stomach bloated up and felt really uncomfortable. When I tried to go to bed, I started having really awful stomach pains that came in waves, but were so bad when they swelled. I couldn’t sleep at all, and finally around 3am, I took my temp and realized it was a slight fever of 99.9. The pains kept coming and grew to be pretty excrutiating (later described them as a bunch of elves stabbing me, but that could also have been the fever talking). As someone who has had appendicitis, Jonathan was really worried and wanted me to go to the ER. I lasted through the night, finally getting an hour of sleep from 5:30 - 6:30.

When I woke up, I called my mom who drove into the city to get me. Long story short, I ended up in my town’s hospital ER getting some tests done. They immediately saw I was dehydrated, so they put me on a liquid drip and an anti-nausea shot. Ultimately the tests came back that it wasn’t my appendix but a really bad stomach virus that is making the rounds (4 others in the ER were there for the same reason).

While I’m very glad it wasn’t something as serious as requiring surgery, I am glad I got it checked out. Normally, I’m one to sweep health things under the rug, but sometimes you have to know when it’s better to look overanxious and be safe than laid-back and seriously ill.

Also, thank you for your sweet thoughts! If you need me, I’ll be on my sofa for the rest of the night.
