Yes, I'm alive, Mom.
I know I’ve been pretty MIA for the last week, but I honestly just need some time away from the computer. Isn’t it funny how vacation actually becomes busier than what life is like normally? In the past few days, I have:
- seen 4 movies in the theater. Yes, 4 movies, 2 days. - had my cousins and their amazing kids over to the apartment and out to dinner. - babysat at the Ritz - had...

Yes, she uses my blog to know I’m alive and safe. Guess I gave her a scare…

To wish Alishan a very very happy, gin-soaked, cupcake filled birthday! (And it’s 11:59pm, I’m not late!!) It seems like you have had as lovely a day as you deserve, and I hope your whole year is filled with as much love and as many laughs and smiles.
No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls...

Important things to remember, especially on days like today…
You know you've created a monster when...
…your mother greets you in the morning with, “I should take a picture of this for your blog to show what you look like when you wake up!”
Happy 2nd anniversary, Apartment.
Somehow, in the craziness of finals/presentations and the fevered daze of the last few days, I missed the actual anniversary of closing on my apartment.
As much as I always loved my apartment, it was very difficult making it a home; it was always a “house” (as much as one room can be) but never felt like “home.” Somehow, without me making a concerted effort, it has become...
"You sound like a dying pubescent boy."
- my friend, concerning my oh-so-hot froggy voice
I’d like to think of it more as deep and seductive, like Pheobe’s “cold sexy voice” on Friends, but I’m pretty sure my friend’s analysis is more accurate. Either way, until further notice, you can find me hacking up a lung on my sofa with The Family Stone, tea, and several blankets.
Christmas Lists become significantly less exciting...
On my list this year? A new vacuum, return address stickers, and grocery store gift certificate.

Today I saw a woman on the street wearing a coat I’ve been admiring for two years. Then, later, a woman sat next to me on the subway reading a book that I’ve been thinking about putting on my (long) TO-READ list.
Both times, I contemplated whether or not to tap them on the shoulder and ask them questions. How do you like the coat? Are the buttons comfortable when you sit? Does it...
"I really LIKE you."
“I think we have a wonderful marriage. I love my husband. He’s my best friend. But I always like to talk honestly about it because I think about other young couples who think there are no struggles to get here. And there are. That’s part of it. The message is - work through the struggles. Start out with somebody that you respect and that you trust so that when you hit the bumps that are...

I was about to be all, “Hey! That was a quote from ‘Up in the Air’!” until I clicked through and read the whole article. Definitely worth a read, and I would also fully recommend the film. The movie really impressed me, especially how they were...
Tough Situations - Advice
Last week, I wrote a blog post about my friend’s awful news about his grandfather’s cancer, and what I could to do help and support him during this hard time. A number of you had some really helpful insights - thank you for sharing! I had a few requests to post the responses I got, and I do think it’s important for us all to share and support each other whenever we can. I...

Tough Situations
A good friend of mine just found out that his truly beloved grandfather has stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and was given 4-6 months to live. In these situations, I tend to just give hugs, because I believe words are superfluous and anything I say wouldn’t do justice to what the person is thinking or feeling.
Unfortunately, I know a lot of you out there have had loved ones battle cancer...
