She has a point.
Me: Rainbow sprinkles are the best. Student: I don’t like them. Me: How can you not like rainbow sprinkles?? Student: They always made me think I was eating unicorns.

Good morning, to each of you.
In one of my graduate classes, I heard a statistic that over 50% of high school kids can go until the afternoon before someone calls them by name. That may not sound like a big deal, it has larger ramifications than you think. As students, you are often one within a sea of hundreds, and at a time when you are trying to figure yourself out, feeling invisible can be damaging. No one sees you, no one...

Today is Report Writing Day for teachers.
Which means I’m working from home. A rarity for my profession! It, of course, also means a Thursday night that was like Friday night with some coworker friends, sleeping in two hours later than a usual work day, a late morning Bar Method class, a homemade brunch, and finally getting to work around noon. A much needed Friday.

Another doctor day.
But today I have to sit in the office for 3 hours and breathe into a plastic bag every 20 minutes so they can monitor toxins in my body. Fun, right? I do get to watch episodes of Scandal on my iPad though, so the day isn’t all too bad!

Look for the Helpers: 10 Heroes of the Boston...
mentalflossr: Getty Images “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” —Mister Rogers In the midst of the carnage following the explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon yesterday, people came together to do what they could, even when it put them in danger. Here are...

One of my student's dad was running the marathon...
I haven’t heard from the family, and he isn’t showing up in google person finder. I want to know if he’s okay, but I don’t want to delve into personal/potentially scary territory by reaching out to them. Think good thoughts?
